Fix stern tube leakages
Stern tube leakages occur when they are least expected.​ ABCON provides simple and efficient stern tube seal types to address these leakages.

By adding one of our STERN TUBE SL (Stop Leak) series of additives to the existing system oil, a Teflon barrier is created on the damaged seal which reduces the leakage significantly or stops it altogether. ABCON provides solutions to both minor and major leakages in the different kinds of seals for Mineral oil and EAL ​(Environmental Acceptable Lubricant) systems.

Lip Seals (mineral oil systems)

• Leakages below 15 liters/day; ABCON MARINE- STERN TUBE SL.
• Leakages between 15-50 liters/day: ABCON MARINE-STERN TUBE SLL
• Leakages between 50-100 liters/day: ABCON MARINE-STERN TUBE SLLL

Face Seals (Cedervall type systems)

• Leakages below 100 liters/day: ABCON MARINE-STERN TUBE CSL.

Bio Based Versions

• Our products are also available in EAL based versions based on Saturated or Unsaturated Ester. They all comply with the 2013 EPA VGP requirements as environmentally acceptable. For more information about our Bioproducts click here.
• All our products are easy to use and can be applied on board by the staff.

Function

• The high content of Teflon and other complex particles produce a barrier on the damaged surface of the seal ring. Works for leakages as well for water ingress. As a result, the leakage is significantly reduced or stopped altogether. In case of sea water in the lube oil, the ABCON products will provide a substantial safety margin as Teflon maintains its lubrication properties even in sea water. Furthermore, the products reduce wear and tear.
• All our STERN TUBE products can be blended with all types of mineral and biodegradable lubricants as appropriate. They can be used with all types of approved aft seal materials.
